Fall Beading Classes

We are pleased to offer several beginner and intermediate classes at The Jewelry
Box & Gifts.  We have worked hard to keep the class costs down and yet provide you with an opportunity to complete a quality finished product.  We will continue to add classes that are both creative and challenging to the beginner and experienced beader.  If there are any classes you are interested in taking, please register at least 2 days ahead of time by phone (785-271-5600),
e-mail (cheri@thejewelryboxandgifts.com), or in person during business hours.  We offer a $5.00 discount for pre-paying for any class.  If you are not able attend a prepaid class, your registration fee will be gladly refunded. Tools are provided for all classes, but feel free to bring your own if you feel more comfortable using them.

BASIC STRINGING AND BEADING 101

Begin your journey into the world of beading.  Basic techniques of jewelry making will be taught including: choosing appropriate stringing material, finishing techniques and design basics.  You will learn basic crimping, how to work with elastic and how to measure for a bracelet.  This very useful class has lots of information for the beginner beader and is something you will use throughout your jewelry making years.  You will take home two finished bracelets – one on wire and one on elastic!  All materials and tools are included.
2 Hour Class / Cost $45

BEAD AND CHAIN NECKLACE

This class is a great combination of beads, chain and an infinite number of designing options available to the skilled beader.  We will show you how you can combine the versatility of beads with a simple chain to create a petite necklace; or a number of beads and chain lengths for a wrap-around necklace.  Tools and supplies provided.
2 Hour Class / Cost $45

BASIC EARRING CONSTRUCTION

In this class you will learn and practice the fundamentals of creating a plain and wrapped loop.  You will construct 3 pairs of earrings using sterling silver headpins, eye pins and straight wire, and explore  the different earring styles and findings available. We will talk about the different tools and wire gauges used to create the perfect earrings.  All materials and tools are included.
2 Hour Class / Cost $40

INTERMEDIATE EARRING CONSTRUCTION I

Continue honing your earring-making skills with this fascinating earring class.  We will be incorporating chain, multiple loops and chandelier findings to design beautiful and creative earrings.  These skills can also be used to create intricate focal and center pieces for necklaces.  Tools and supplies provided.
2 Hour Class / Cost $40

INTERMEDIATE EARRING CONSTRUCTION II

In this class you will continue learn new techniques for making intriguing earrings.  Decorative beading wire, links and misc findings will be used to make sparkling and artistic earrings.  We will help you become more comfortable using jump-rings, chain and crimps in your designs.  Tools and supplies provided.
2 Hour Class / Cost $40

BASIC WIRE-WRAPPING

In this basic class you will be using a pendant focal bead; wiring through the hole, constructing coils, loops and additional beads.  This is the perfect way to start familiarizing yourself with the different types of wires available and the ease of constructing fascinating center pieces for your necklaces.  Bring your own focal bead or purchase one from the store. 
1 ½ Hour Class / Cost $30

INTERMEDIATE WIRE-WRAPPING

Wire wrap your favorite or soon to be favorite stones into a new and unique sense of style!  You will learn to wrap a cabochon stone or dichroic piece into a pendant that you can wear on any chain or coordinate with matching beads.  Wire and tools provided.      
1 ½ Hour Class / Cost $30

WIRE RING-MAKING

Continue your fine wire-wrapping skills to make this stunning ring.  Using non-tarnish silver or gold wire you will learn secrets to measuring, wrapping and designing a one-of-a-kind ring for yourself or as a gift.  Wire and tools provided.
1 ½ Hour Class / Cost $20

WIRE-WRAP & PEARL CROSS

Create this simple but stylish cross to use as a pendant, ornament, or gift.  We will show you how to combine pearl, crystal and wire to make wraps, curls and findings.  You will complete two crosses with pearl and crystal of your choice.  Tools and materials provided
2 Hour Class / Cost $30

WIRE-WRAPPED CRYSTAL BRACELET

In this unique bracelet class you will learn different wire crafting techniques including how to create a hook and eye out of wire, wrap beads and make polished wire finishings.   This stylish bangle-bracelet can easily be made with crystal, metal, gemstone, or glass beads for various looks or styles.  Tools and materials provided.

BASIC JEWELRY DESIGN 101

Are you over-whelmed with the vast selection of beads and just looking for some basic direction in beading combinations?  In this beginner design class you will learn color cues, layout techniques and successful designing principles.

Bring your own focal bead or purchase one from the store.  Come prepared to layout and string a necklace for yourself or a gift.  All beads 10% off to participants during class.
